About
SKillz Dance Festival was born out of a simple yet powerful belief: that dance is more than movement — it is identity, voice, and connection. Founded in Uganda and rooted in the spirit of Hip-Hop and street dance culture, the festival has grown into one of East Africa’s most vibrant cultural gatherings.
From its humble beginnings as a community-driven jam session, SKillz has evolved into a Pan-African festival that unites dancers, DJs, MCs, graffiti artists, and cultural leaders from across the continent and beyond. Each edition is a celebration of rhythm, creativity, and resilience — a space where artistry meets community, and where local talent connects with the global stage.
Over the years, SKillz has become more than just a festival. It is a platform for exchange, empowerment, and transformation. Through battles, workshops, performances, and dialogues, we amplify youth voices, build cultural bridges, and strengthen the role of dance in shaping our societies.

Mission
Our mission is to celebrate African creativity and diversity by showcasing dance as a universal cultural language that transcends borders. We are committed to empowering young people with opportunities for artistic growth, skill-building, and global exposure while fostering collaboration and unity among dance communities across Africa and the diaspora. Through meaningful cultural exchange, we create connections between artists, audiences, and partners, inspiring social impact and using dance as a powerful tool for dialogue, inclusion, and community transformation.

Vision
To be Africa’s leading platform for street dance and urban culture — one that inspires, connects, and empowers communities through creativity, movement, and cultural exchange.
